Shenandoah

I am going to borrow violet leira's idea and post a few pictures from Flickr. Jah, one could easily become addicted to browsing through endless Flickr files.

edit - whoah, I didn't even notice the pattern of the pics until after I randomly uploaded them...

You don't need me to say anything, do you? I haven't been doing much. I've been taking a couple of practice English tests for the ACT. Fun fun. The ones I've done so far are just read the essay and change the underlined parts. *sigh* almost all of the pieces are very boring. There's almost always things I would change and rewrite that aren't underlined. Perhaps it's just my particular, preferred style. Mom says I write like my dad.

I am currently listening to a recording of the book The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair. It has nothing to do with jungles or forests (who was I contradicting about lions in forests in India???) but rather is the story of a Lithuanian immigrant and his family who come to Chicago seeking "The American Dream." They get jobs in meat factories - gross and gruesome.

I liked My Antonia better - the story of a Bohemian immigrant family who ends up somewhat better off than the Lithuanian family, at least so far. Well, I don't know, I guess it depends on your opinion. I still remember the Kirsten stories from American Girl. They were Swedish?

This weekend we work the Taco Stand at the medieval fair! Oh yeah. I love Taco Stand. Making, eating, and all else. Maybe I'll get to fry!!!

And they say poor uneducated people are swindled by fine print....lol

Matthew 5:13-16 "You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. "You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."

I had to read The Jungle. It ends in socialism. And then I had to write a paper about socialism. *shudders*
