I have been meaning to post for several days but just haven't
gotten around to it.

Last weekend we visited the botanical gardens downtown for the first time, and it was really beautiful. The current exhibits have a Hawaiian island theme.

These flowers are supposed to smell like hot chocolate. I don't really think they do, but they do smell really sweet.




This is a poinsettia tree. If had had consciously thought about it, I might have thought about poinsettias growing on trees, but it still seems kind of funny. Oh, and poinsettia nectar is really good. I tried it.


One would certainly want to watch where one was going with too many of these deadly things around

I have been working all week on these sorry newspaper articles required for application to our newspaper's junior journalism program. I find it horrid writing about what I would write if I were writing the article. Yes, they're not even real articles, just a whole paragraph describing what I would write about. To show them I can write. Uggghhh. I had to have three of them done, and three people to interview for each piece. I got it done eight hours before the deadline - which, by the way, was an extension from the original deadline. Yeah.

Despite freezing rain, icy roads and twenty eight degree weather, we still had church this morning. It took us a year to get there driving at 18mph, but we got there and joined the other ten people and the senior pastor who had ventured out of their homes. Okay, exaggerations. It took us twenty one minutes to get there, and there were probably a hundred people in first service, and not only was the senior pastor there, but the Bishop, too. :-)

Second Sunday in Advent. We light the candles of hope and love.
