Elvis Aaron Presley was born January 8, 1935. Little did anyone know baby Elvis would grow up to be the King of Rock 'n' Roll. Elvis sold more than 1.3 billion records, more than any other artist in the world, served in the U.S. Army, was nominated for fourteen Grammys, and appeared in over thirty movies. He had a black belt in karate, and owned a pet chimpanzee. Elvis, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash are the only three artists to have been inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In 1967 he married Priscilla Beaulieu and they had one daughter, Lisa Marie. He and Priscilla divorced in 1973.
When Elvis died on August 16, 1977 at the age of 42, the autopsy detected fourteen different drugs in his bloodstream, ten in significant quantities. The world today wouldn't be the same with his undying hits: Heartbreak Hotel, Jailhouse Rock, Blue Suede Shoes, Love Me Tender, and of course, Hound Dog. Rest in Peace.

I remember Elvis. I was a "teeny-bopper" and "ooed, aahh and squealed". I remember the shock when the announcement came that he had died! I still think he had one of the most beautiful voices, and recorded such a range of music.
