¡Hola! :-) This past weekend our Fall Retreat was unfortunately canceled and replaced with a High School Lock-In; a rather sad substitution, but better than nothing. We spent Friday doing nothing but hanging out and playing games and eating more junk food than you could imagine.

At about ten or eleven o'clock (one seems to lose one's sense of time when one is locked in a building with no normal schedule) we gathered for worship, followed by a s'mores gathering around a portable charcoal firepit. [link] At about three in the morning, when you begin to question why you ever let yourself get talked into staying up all night on nothing but chocolate chocolate chip mint cookies and pizza, we played a game of Sardines. This was the climax of the night, though whether or not it was a success is yet to be determined.

Divided into teams of two or three, we were released into the entire upper floor of the church building and unceremoniously thrown into darkness. Incidentally, the upper floor of our church is giant - thousands of square feet. The object was to make it alive to wherever everybody was hiding and hope you weren't the last ones there. While innocently looking for a needle in a cornfield, we were attacked at every corner by devious members of the male species aiming to send us into a state of permanent trauma. The most grievous injustice being that I didn't even get a sore throat from the enormous amount of screaming I did.

There comes a point where you find yourself cowering in blackness in some deadly kindergarten classroom clutching the arm of goodness knows who being chased by some unimaginable creature 90% of which is of your own imagination's invention at three thirty in the morning when you begin to question whether or not this is actually fun.

After this distressing ordeal, Tara and I played Guitar Heroes (which is unbelievably amazing) until our eyes ceased blinking, ventured up onto the windy roof (very cool) and finally collapsed (literally) into our haphazardly pitched tent for a surprisingly restful two and a half hours.

Sooooo that's pretty much all I have now.

Thank you, Uncle Dave. I am now assured that, had you been there, you would have been in the vanguard of those particular devious members of the male species.
