Opening Night!

So we opened last night. Amazingly enough, I didn't get my opening night jitters. Whew! Maybe it's just becoming routine. So overall, it was fine, a few small set problems, a few bobbled lines - nothing very horrible. Oh yeah.

Then it's time for Pegeen. My big moment! Omg. All of a sudden, I can't breathe. *gasp* Deep breaths, deep breaths. *panic!!!!!!* So, everything started out smoothly. The set guy forgot to build my prop - a giant mobile - but hey, just find something to do with your hands. Not a problem. The lines were fine. Until it came time for me to climb down off the ladder. I had two lines as I exited, which had totally and completely left my brain. We're talking absolutely no recollection. I ran off stage without saying them. One of them I remembered and shouted from off stage. *sigh*

I had one more chance - one more scene to go. After a mad dash to change clothes - I was rather flustered, fearful of being late, everything went smoothly. All Mame had to do was make an entrance, sing a little song, then the whole she-bang would be over and we could glory in the Curtain Call.

But wait - where was Mame???? She wasn't coming. Nooooooo! *Pause.* The audience snickered. Crap. Brandon and I looked at each other. Well, nothing to do but ad-lib.

"Was Auntie Mame planning on dropping by?"
"Maybe she forgot."
"Well, maybe we'll..."

I honestly don't remember what we said. It seemd like years and years before we finally heard her coming. After that, everthing was fine. Oh gosh.
