NewSong, the Newsies, and Pegeen

Last night I saw the Newsies fo rthe first time. I loved it! I fianlly understand why everyone rants and raves over it. The dance scenes were very delightful. I have to admit I didn't recognize Ann-Margaret as Medda. Three cheers for Christian Bale!

Thursday night some friends of our parents called with two extra tickets to a NewSong concert that night. Mom and Dad were -*sigh*- occupied, so Nate and I went. And they weren't JUST tickets, they were the PLATINUM tickets, woooooo.

We ate a ton of hors d'oeuvers and...waited for the concert to begin! ;-)

I had never heard any of their songs, excepting Christmas Shoes, of course, and I was very impressed.
NewSong rocks!

Their opening artist, Nate Sallie, was disappointing. He had a lot of musical ability, but he kept telling us to do wierd things, then he'd stop in the middle of the song to tell us he'd decided he didn't like us doing it. Then he'd stop eight measures later because he'd thought of something he wanted to say. Grrrrrr. One of his songs, "Take a look at me now," was very self-glorifying. Uggghhh! 2 stars for Nate Sallie.



Haha, and now for exciting news...I am going to play Pegeen Ryan in Mame this fall! Pegeen is the intelligent, interesting girl who ends up marrying Patrick Dennis, Mame's nephew. I get to "marry" Brandon Miller! Yay. I'm so excited! Not about that. I mean about having a named role. I actually have a named role. Glorious day! Now for the execution of said Pegeen.
