I was walking across campus after class yesterday, trying to remember where I had parked my car. This guy came up to me and handed me a small paperback. He was tall and generally unkempt, with wild hair and a scraggly beard. I noticed that the book was styled to look like one of the La Haye / Jenkins Left Behind novels, quick observer that I am. The guy asked me to contribute anything to the printing and binding costs, suggesting candy, gum or a few pennies, anything. It was just a bit odd, but I told him truthfully I had nothing but textbooks. After thinking, I offered him my ballpoint pen, which he accepted. I felt sort of bad, but I was curious about the book. It is titled Survivors, by Zion Ben Jonah, and upon inspection of the back cover appears to be an attempt to correct and rewrite the Left Behind Series. So, now I'll have to see what's inside.
