Hey people, what's up? So it's been a pretty good week. Monday night we had everyone in ballet class - total weirdness. The studio owner was sure it was a mirage. lol. It was a pretty good class - easy for me because I've been there every week and I remember the combinations and my muscles remember things - well, some things at least. :-) My lats still aren't cooperating and occasionally my rotation from the hips starts to really slide, darn it.

Our teacher showed us part of her solo that she's performing in her company recital in a few weeks. She's choreographing it herself - it looks awesome. She's an amazing dancer.

I guess I'll continue discussing dance. Yesterday morning I spent 2.5 hours in dance rehearsal for some of the numbers we'll be performing for our choir concert. Yeah, this is the weird situation where choir members who can dance are pulled from choir practice to learn this choreography. Well, today we had a lovely surprise - we ditched the ballet part for a little while and learned a swing number! Wheeee! We decided to stretch the term "choir members who can dance" and focus just on "choir members," and we brought in some choir guys to help us. :-) Just kidding - really, they're amazing.

We get to do some cool little lifts and "tricks," and hopefully we won't kill ourselves. My favorite so far is the drop splits - hopefully when we perform my muscles will be a little more warmed up than they were today. It's kind of scary being thrown to the floor, jerked up and thrown around. :-) I must trust dear Brian! Boy he's strong. I'm pretty pumped about all this, as you can tell. Next week we get to try it in heels. Oh goody!

If I can figure out what's wrong with my ankles, I shouldn't have a problem. They've stopped hurting now, except when I put on heels, then sometimes it's so bad I can't even stand on them. It's a weird pain, like deep in the ankle, not like I just twisted it or something. Oh weeeelllll!

Last night I checked out this funny book from the library that's basically just pages of really old prom pictures. They certainly had funny hair in the eighties. Actually it's mostly the dresses from the sixties that are the funniest - that and the strange expressions on some of the people's faces. These expressions range from a very goofy guffaw sort of a look (inside joke, surely), to a rather strangled look, or like they've been coerced into standing next to someone they bitterly loathe, or else their date hasn't showered in a month, or else their shoes are just really really uncomfortable. It's even better when the girl's dress clashes with her date's suit, her flowers, and the backdrop all at once.

This is the official announcement that there will be no Superbowl commercial posts this year. Very sorry, just not gonna happen. Instead, I give you something more interesting - the DWTS lineup! Yay! This is what we've been waiting for. It looks like a pretty good cast, though obviously everything changes when we actually see them dance. In order of The Official How Good I Think They're Going To Be, based on

  • prior knowledge of the skill and personality of their pro partner
  • their occupation
  • my incredibly good dancer intuition, lol
I'm surprised that Maksim Chmerkovskiy is absent, not surprised that poor Alec Mazo isn't here, and quite delighted that Louis is back. We haven't seen him in a couple of seasons. There's only one new pro, Fabian Sanchez, which makes me very happy. FYI, read it left right, left right.

OMG they have Penn as one of the dancers! Well, that's going to be intresting.

I hope your ankle gets better before the show. There is not much worse than a dancer with an injured ankls. Speaking, of dancing how long have you been a dancer?
